How Does it Feel?
Open Workshop with Rajni Shah: Newcastle, November 10-12th 2010

As part of the development process for her new performance, Glorious, artist Rajni Shah is looking for ten participants to take part in a free three-day workshop at a Newcastle city centre venue during the early evenings of November 10th, 11th and 12th (exact times tbc in consultation with participants), ending with an informal celebratory performance on the evening of November 12th.

Participants will work with Rajni and her collaborators to create short simple performances based on autobiographical material, using a combination of voice, text and objects. Workshop participants need not have prior experience in any of these areas; each participant will be able to work with the areas that interest him/her most.

Participants will be broadly responding to the question:
"How does it feel to be alive today?"

This workshop is not for professional artists - enthusiasm and curiosity are all that's required. The workshop will be led by Rajni Shah with costume designer Lucille Acevedo-Jones (lucilleacevedojones.co.uk) and performer Sheila Ghelani (sheilaghelani.co.uk).

If you'd like to take part, please send a short one paragraph explanation of why this opportunity would be of interest to you to [email protected] by November 1st. You are also welcome to send any questions or concerns to this address.
