Overview and Touring Notes

Glorious is a project that takes place over a number of months. It involves a series of playful interventions in public space followed by a rehearsal process with two sets of local volunteers: a local musical group of any genre, who reinterpret the Glorious score under the supervision of our Musical Director, Suzie Shrubb; and a group of 6-10 local residents (recruited through the public interventions) who create their own monologues during a series of workshops with the company. A few weeks before the performance, the whole company starts to come together to create the show - and then the whole thing culminates in one unique performance, a shared moment with an audience that will never be repeated, involving stories from local residents and a soundtrack created by local musicians.

We follow up each show by sharing documentation, writing and images with all volunteers through our Glorious People social network (invite only). And we work with writer Mary Paterson to collect stories from all our participants, which will be woven into the Glorious Storybook - a copy of which will be sent, along with a DVD, to each participant at the end of the tour.

Technical requirements

The final performance needs to take place in a mid-scale proscenium arch theatre, preferably with an orchestra pit. You can download a full tech spec here - and we'd be more than happy to talk about where we can be flexible with these requirements. In general, depending on the size of musical group, there will be at least 15 people on stage plus instruments.

Cost

UK shows are subsidised and cost £5,000 including all elements - public interventions, rehearsals with volunteers, and final performance. This fee can be negotiated, especially if the presenter can help with some of the travel and accommodation costs. If you would like to work with us, but can't afford this fee, please contact us as we may be able to fundraise together.

If you are an international presenter, please contact us so we can discuss the fees.
